When you showed me the four volumes of your book on fencing, I immediately thought of an author who had written for the theatre: FENCING, a play in three parts, preceded by a prologue of training and practice for the physical condition, followed by The Foil ( first part), The Épée (second part), and The Sabre (third part).

Trained by Maître Piot, you were admitted to the Institut National des Sports in 1968. After three years of brilliant studies, you obtained the National Diploma of Maître Education Physique et Escrime.

The Finnish Fencing Federation and Modern Pentathlon, the Canadian Fencing Association, then the Northern California Fencing Division of the American Fencing Association all asked you to take charge of teaching fencing in all three weapons.

To the best of my knowledge, you have put the four volumes of your book in a precise form, about all aspects of fencing, and from a point of view which is sporting and educational: the physical training; the traditional foil, but always in the present day practice; the épée, forbear of the electric weapon; and the sabre, of Hungarian origin, youngest weapon in modern fencing.

Your command of the technical, tactical, and theoretical aspects of fencing; your artistic sense (you have personally completed the illustrations and photographs); these bode well for the success of the books

My dear Bac, please do not think that my endorsement of your books is mere flattery, but rather that I have taken the opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for the reputation of the French method of fencing.

Mon cher Bac,

Lorsque vous m'avez présenté vos quatre livres sur l'escrime, j'ai immédiatement pensé à un auteur qui aurait écrit pour le théâtre: L'ESCRIME pièce en trois actes précédées d'un prologue l'entrainement et la mise en condition physique (prologue), le fleuret (premier acte), l'épée (deuxième acte), le sabre (troisième acte).

Formé par le Maitre Piot, vous vous êtes présenté à L'Institut National des Sports en 1968. Après trois ans de brilliantes études, vous avez obtenu le diplôme d'Etat de Maître d'Education Physique et d'Escrime.

La Fédération Finlandaise d'Escrime et de Penthalon Moderne, l'Association Canadienne d'Escrime puis la Division d'Escrime au Nord de la Californie, (U.S.F.A.) vous demandèrent de prendre en mains l'enseignement de l'escrime aux trois armes.

Je vous sais gré d'avoir concrétisé dans vos quatres volumes tout ce que l'escrime représente au point de vue sportif et éducatif: la mise en condition physique et l'entrainement, le fleuret traditionel mais toujours actuel, l'épée ancêtre des armes électriques et le sabre d'origine Hongroise, benjamin de l'escrime moderne.

Vos qualités de technicien, de tacticien et de pédagogue, votre sens artistique (vous avez réalisé les illustrations et les photographies) vous permettent de bien augurer du succès de votre ouvrage.

Ne croyez pas, mon cher Bac, que cette préface est une flagonnerie, mais je tiens à vous remercier de ce que vous faites pour le renom de l'escrime Française.
